Blueberry Improve Brain Damage

1.2.10

Cincinatti, blueberry fruit can provide increased capacity to remember and learn  significantly. Blueberries are also shown to reduce damage to brain cells, thereby reducing the risk of dementia or other problems in the brain.

Blueberries effects of increased brain power not only been tested on mice, but researchers also proved that in humans.

Researchers from The University of Cincinatti doing tests on two small groups consisting of 18 participants aged 70 years. At the beginning of the study, participants reported to have signs of memory disorders.

One group was given two cups of blueberry juice every day for 3 months, whereas the other group was given only a placebo drink (pseudo) but thought the drink contains blueberries.

Both groups were given the same test, the memory test to determine the effect of blueberry beverage brain function, especially memory.

Only within 3 months after blueberry juice, the participants could remember names more quickly, produce high scores on tests of words and tend to decrease depression.

Researcher Robert Krikorian reported the results of these findings in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. He concluded that blueberries can provide increased capacity to remember and learn the significant.

"The results of this study can hopefully encourage someone to eat blueberries as a supplement to prevent or improve brain deterioration," Krikorian said as quoted Telegaph, Wednesday (27/1/2010).

Blueberries contain chemical compounds known antosianin that can accelerate the delivery of messages or information to the brain and inhibits the cells from damage associated with age. Blueberries are one super fruit because of other properties that can fight cancer, heart disease, asthma, cataracts and more.
